Convention

Join us at our upcoming convention as Macedonian families gather together and celebrate their heritage, forming life-long friendships.

Since 1922, the annual convention has been the MPO‘s pinnacle event. This three-day event is open to both members and non-members and is a fantastic opportunity to soak up the Macedonian culture, catch-up with old friends, and make a few new friends. This family friendly event draws Macedonians from all over the United States and Canada and is held in a different city each year.

The convention features three evening dances with live traditional Macedonian music, a Sunday dinner with entertainment and speakers, plus workshops on Macedonian dance, cuisine, and culture. And not to worry, MPO traditions like the Song Fest, the Best Zelnik Contest, and the post-dance pizza parties are still going strong!

Depending on the city, other organized events such as golf outings, river cruises, city tours, and much more are available. We also encourage visitors to explore the host city on their own, making for an afternoon of family fun.

The convention has grown from a simple business meeting to a celebration of the unique customs, heritage, culture and traditions of Macedonians in the United States and Canada. The convention still serves as the MPO’s annual meeting, where delegates from local chapters meet to conduct the business of the MPO and elect the Central Committee of Trustees. Our history is always on display with a gallery of convention photos dating back to 1922. The Macedonian anthem Izgrey Zora has been performed at all MPO events from our inception.
